It’s that time of year again. . . and I don’t just mean shopping for Christmas! It’s Rescue Train time.
Last year Tigger and I had a great morning at The Rescue Train’s Race for the Rescues. We actually only “raced” 1K, but enjoyed the festivities, met the lovely volunteers of Hanaeleh (horse rescue) while supporting a great cause.
Race for the Rescues is having their second amazing event at Oak Canyon Park in Silverado with thousands of racers and attendees. They’re helping 18 local Orange County rescues representing dogs, cats, horses, sea mammals (awwww!) and guinea pigs too!
The Rescue Train is a rescue in its own right, but it also works to help many other rescues raise much needed funds. Last year OC Animal Care came to the event, dressed up in costumes the shelter dogs that were in danger of being euthanized, had celebrities walk them down the “fashion runway” and all shelter trucks went back empty!
In case you’re wondering: RACE FOR THE RESCUES is a “professionally timed sporting event” 10K, 5K, 1K Dog Walk and Kids Fun Run that you can run/walk with your dog. They have activities for kids and over 40 booths of vendors and animal rescues. This year celebrity and expert dog trainer Brandon McMillan of the hit TV show “Lucky Dog” will be the host!
If you’re in SoCal this weekend, come run, walk, shop or adopt. Even if you can’t attend, check out their race site at www.racefortherescues.org and click on the video to see what it’s all about. There’s still time to sign up and walk or run. All Aboard!!!
