There’s a hip blog specifically geared for the men in our lives lucky enough to to have landed in a relationship with those of us who are #horsecrazy. These hapless souls often bear the moniker “Horse Husband.” The blog HorseHubby.com is a celebration of horse husbands everywhere!
The blog’s slogan is “For people who love horse people.”
Right now Horse Hubby is hosting a Horse Husband Calendar Contest. Yes, you read that right. Check it out and join in the manly mayhem. Click here to see my horse hubby Mark as the sample entry for the calendar contest (Mark, your 15 minutes of fame is on!).
You Don’t Have to Have an Actual Horse Hubby to Play Along
Never fear single ladies, you don’t need a literal husband to participate in the contest or follow the blog. A Horse Husband could be a boyfriend who is recruited to take pictures at your shows or a dad who pays the bills or cleans the stalls.
I think the idea is that a horse hubby is a significant other who finds himself wrapped up in an equine lifestyle through no choice of his own.
A Brief History on Horse Hubby
I first became acquainted with Timothy Harfield via his Twitter account @HorseHubby. I do love Twitter for important things like staying abreast of current events, and for discovering hilarious horse folks I’ve yet to meet in person. Timothy is in the latter category.

Mr. Horse Hubby knows firsthand the joys and trials of being a horse husband; he is hitched to one of the coolest riders I know. You just might have heard of Elisa Wallace? She’s the gal who not only competes at Rolex (gutsy!), but also trains Mustangs to do “simple” things like sliding stops and dressage trotting that I don’t even know the name of (piaffe or passage maybe?), and jumping bareback and standing on top of them. You know, all the usual stuff riders do. BTW. . . she does all these fancy things without a saddle and bridle. No biggie.
Click here to check out her winning ride from the Extreme Mustang makeover. WARNING: you feel feel like a completely inadequate rider if you watch this.
Other Fun Facts About Horse Hubby
Horse Hubby Timothy is also a recurring co-host on one of my favorite podcasts: Horses in the Morning. Glenn the Geek, the show host, and Timothy have described the monthly “Horse Hubby Edition” of Horses in the Morning as “a horse radio show for people who know nothing about horses. . . an on-air support group for guys.”
Check out Horse Hubby and enter the contest by all means. Your guy could just be the next big thing in the world of horse hubby super models.
I gotta go. Time to search for Mark’s official entry picture. So much sorting, so little time.
