Do you wish your tack and dog gear were machine washable with flashy custom colors, and supported Thoroughbred aftercare charities? Well, thanks to Two Horse Tack in Lexington, Kentucky and the properties of Beta Biothane you can enjoy halters, bridles, reins, dog collars, leashes and more in brilliant hues that require minimal care and help out adoptable horses.

Knight and I were gifted this fun lime green Beta Biothane buckle-nose halter in exchange for this review. It was hard to choose which color (green’s my fav) because I loved the teal too which you can see here along with the whole palette of fourteen biothane colors.

Who Uses Beta Biothane Tack & Why?

Certain equestrian circles such as racing, endurance riding, and competitive mounted orienteering (kind of like a treasure hunt on horseback) for example, have embraced Beta Biothane. However, riders from any discipline where horses get really dirty and sweaty will benefit from the resiliency of the material.

This halter from Two Horse tack is durable, is easy to clean, and will purportedly outlast leather (I have not had my halter long enough to address the last point). You can dunk the whole halter in a bucket or spray it off with a hose. The most intriguing method is to put the halter or reins or whatever Beta Biothane product you have in a pillow case and throw it in the washing machine!

Two Horse Tack & Horse Charities

Two Horse Tack’s Beta Biothane products are made in Kentucky and the company has partnerships with New Vocations, The Exceller Fund, Kentucky Equine Humane Center, and Hope Held by a Horse. They frequently use adoptable rescue horses as models for the photos on their website. After several shoots, Two Horse Tack will have multiple tack items left over. When these items sell, the proceeds are donated to the rescues. When buyers check out they will be prompted to see if they want to give an additional amount to that particular charity.

Additional Facts about Beta Biothane Products from Two Horse Tack

  • Order a Biothane bridle or halter in black or brown for a more traditional look.
  • Knight’s new Biothane halter has a double buckle crown piece which I requested in leather (safety first!). I like this because it not only allows for greater adjustment, but is easily replaced if broken.
  • There’s also a throat latch snap for easy removal of halter. (You can also request to not have this feature when you order.)
  • Design your own color combinations and bling patterns–the possibilities are almost limitless.
  • Two Horse Tack sells mule, Icelandic, and Medieval bridles!

Saddle Seeks Horse readers can receive 10% off a Two Horse Tack purchase, simply by using the promo code THT407.
