What’s a Malibu horse girl to do when the browband trend leans heavily toward sparkle and bling, and nothing suits her Boho style? Why create her own line of artisan browbands with vibrant colors, of course. Isabelle Bright of the fabulous Instagram account Modern Equestrian (which grew out of her blog founded in 2009) did just that and the Modern Equestrian browband line was born!
Knight had the chance to do a little browband modeling last week and he knew how to work the camera. He looked sharp in three various models that Modern Equestrian will be selling during Small Business Saturday at Calabasas Saddlery.
The theme of the day of Knight’s second modeling gig was blue, but Isabelle can incorporate multiple colors and embellishments into the browband of your dreams, as evidenced below. They can be styled based on your barn colors, favorite colors, or whatever colors you think enhance your horse’s eyes or mood.
The options for customization are limited only by your own imagination. Take a look at more color and embellishment ideas by visiting Isabelle’s blog. You’ll see there are even options for Western bridles too.
Fun Fact: Isabelle’s main horse sidekick Bailey frequently sports a forelock man bun so as to allow for a more browband prominence. Thanks to consistent Instagramming using man bun related hashtags, Modern Equestrian and her trainer have acquired followers of man bun related accounts.
Getting to Know Modern Equestrian
Isabelle became a horse girl at age six when she started riding. While attending UC-Santa Cruz, Isabelle rode competitively in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. (Which is something we both have in common–IHSA, more on that in a future post). She has even competed as an alumni.
Modern Equestrian is an English riding devotee but loves all aspects of equestrianism from reading about horses to hanging out with them, to watching movies, and meeting new people who share her passion for horses.
Speaking of movies, Isabelle has a background in the entertainment industry. She worked on the show Mike & Molly for six years as an assistant to the executive producer and before that was even an extra on the final episode of Friends! (How cool is that???) That’s her in line behind Rachael. She did not know she was going to be selected as an extra for this momentous occasion.
Isabelle is always on a quest to merge equestrianism and creativity whether it be through fashion, photography, blogging, or filmmaking. Making her own designer browbands blends her horse love, creativity, and tactile nature.
Behind the Scenes with Horses & Heels and Modern Equestrian and Pups
And now for a behind-the-scenes look at Knight’s photo shoot with Modern Equestrian. We had three other very special guests who made the shoot a success.
- Raquel of the inspiring blog Horses and Heels
- Mango, Raquel’s Pomeranian (who has her own Instagram account)
- Carbon, Isabelle’s canine assistant
It takes a village and pets to do a proper equine photo shoot.
Carbon and Mango were the two best behaved barn dogs in a new setting I have ever seen. They acted like they were supposed to be there and were completely chill. It was a fun time at the barn with horse girls, dogs, and fashion forward Modern Equestrian browbands.
